Dartford manager Steve King hopes he has solved his goal problem by bringing in a Football League striker on loan.

The Darts have netted only once in their last three games and King is keen that they increase their conversion rate in most games.

He hopes his new recruit can add a new dimension to Dartford's attack, with the unnamed forward set to agree a deal to stay at Princes Park to the end of the season.

“I need a forward, I definitely need a forward,” stated King. “I’m probably going to get one (on Wednesday).

“I’ve agreed a deal with someone and that will probably happen for the weekend.

“I need someone that is going to put the ball in the onion bag. (We’ve had some) brilliant approach play and someone on top of their game ends up with a hat-trick (against Tonbridge), that’s how I feel.”

Charlie Sheringham is still a Darts player but is on loan at Chelmsford, where he has scored four goals already.

King did consider bringing him back but said it would be unfair on the striker if he then didn’t play every match for Dartford.

“For me Charlie has scored four in four and he can’t do no more – plus he’s had two goals disallowed,” stated King.

“I don’t want to bring him back if he’s not going to play every week, that would be unfair.

“I’m looking at a few things. I feel we need that explosive pace in behind that’s going to hurt teams and I don’t think we’ve got that.

“We’ve got sharp players, bits and pieces, but we haven’t got one that can get in with pace and power and really upset teams.

“Hopefully that’s the (sort of player) I’m going to sign in the next couple of days.”

Forward Jack Barham missed the midweek win over Tonbridge through sickness.
