Dartford boss Tony Burman frustrated in the transfer market but insists there is no panic at Princes Park

A lack of transfer activity is frustrating Tony Burman but the Dartford manager isn’t about to panic.

So far this summer Tom Bonner has been the only new arrival at Princes Park with several of Burman’s other targets having accepted deals elsewhere.

But he’s staying philosophical about their business and won’t be rushed.

Burman said: "I’ve had some more players in and spoken to them but some of them have chosen to go somewhere else. You have to put a bit of closure on it and move on.

"We’re still OK, getting a little bit frustrated maybe but not panicking.

"We’ve given players good offers for our level. We’ve made our offers and it’s up to the players to accept them or not. Some have but some haven’t.

"If a player wants to play in a higher league, you have to accept that.

"We’ve made contact, had some good conversations with players but it hasn’t come off and we haven’t been able to sign them. It just goes that way and another time, it will be in your favour."

Burman knows some players will trial with Football League or National League clubs early in pre-season before becoming available later on.

He said: "There’s players around. You have to meet them, get the right feel for them, you know some of them and they are targets.

"There’s still plenty of people out there. It might seem a little bit frustrating from the outside but there’s no panic buttons or anything like that, you just have to be patient.

"Of the many players you’re speaking to, you’ll get one saying no and another saying yes. Then you can move on and go for it again.

"There’s a couple of areas we need to have players in. I’d like to add to the strike force, that’s no secret. I’d like to get the ones I want and that’s still a possibility.

"I’m quite happy with what we’re doing at the moment.

"You don’t always have to have everything done and dusted before you report back for pre-season.

"We’ve got a lot of our work already done and I’m sure we will be strengthening the squad even further in the coming weeks."
