Tony Burman did his best to stay positive after Dartford blew a great chance to record their first win of the season on Saturday.

Darts drew 0-0 with Torquay United at Princes Park to extend their winless run in the Vanarama Conference to four games.

The home side were awarded a penalty in the second half but Elliot Bradbrook missed it.

Burman said: "The positive is the clean sheet, which is nice to have. I’m obviously disappointed that we haven’t – again – got all three points. But overall, the performance is still promising.

"We’ve missed a penalty and I think, if the penalty goes in, you could say that it would give everyone a boost in the ground. Who knows what might have happened after that if he’d scored?"

Dartford visit fourth-placed Barnet on Bank Holiday Monday.

"It’s a tough place to go," Burman said. "At least it’s a Sunday (between games), which is a day of rest, so the guys aren’t going to work the next day and then play on the Monday. We’re all in the same boat with what we can do for the next 36 hours.

"We’ll go to Barnet and we’ll give a good account of ourselves. We want to go there and try to get some points and that’s what we’ll do. Whatever team I put out, we’ll have a good go at it.

"We’ve got to put the effort in like we did on Saturday. In spells, we’ve played really well and I’m pleased for the guys but I can’t keep saying that. We’ve got to get something on the board.

"You might want to not play so well but get three points. If we can do that, and if it happens at Barnet, then fine."
