Dartford FC boss Tony Burman looking at former Charlton Athletic and Southend United player Ellis Brown

Fans can expect to see some unfamiliar faces in Dartford’s squad for the first match of the summer.

Darts make the short trip to Gay Dawn Farm on Tuesday night to face Corinthian of the Southern Counties East League Premier Division.

As well as summer signings Tom Bonner, Keaton Wood and Alex Brown, there will be several trialists featuring for the visitors.

Dartford boss Tony Burman said: "I will have a look at some guys who have come in for a trial. We have to look at them fairly early and give them a decision to be fair to them.

"The guys we’ve got, it’s an opportunity for us to look at them. They know the score and whether they stay or not, we’ll have to just see what happens. Every club gets people who will come in and have a closer look at them to see whether there’s a gem there.

"We’ll see what happens with that and make decisions. I want to get the squad sorted before the end of pre-season and hopefully that’s what we’ll do.

"There’s a lad called Ellis Brown, who was at Tonbridge Angels and lives in Dartford. He used to be at Charlton and Southend and he asked to come in.

"There’s a couple of the academy lads I want to have a close look at and let them be around first-team players. There’s a couple of second-year lads in that lot as well.

"There’s another player who should be in on Thursday because he’s still away at the moment. It’s not loads of players but there’s one or two we’ve got to look at."

A centre-forward is the missing piece in Darts’ summer puzzle.

Burman said: "There’s nothing concrete but I’m trying my best to bring a striker in. It’s just a slow process.

"We have spoken to a lot of strikers and, for whatever reason, they’ve not come to us. It’s been amicable in that respect but we can only do what we can do.

"There’s another two strikers I’ll be speaking to in the next couple of days. They were on our list but it’s taken a while to get round to seeing them.

"It might come off and it might not but we’ll do our best. I want to bring another forward in, preferably with experience because I think that’s what we will need."
