Dartford midfielder Jacob Berkeley-Agyepong has been recalled by Aldershot Town from his loan spell.

Berkeley-Agyepong joined the Darts at the end of December and made six appearances, scoring two goals.

He added a touch of class to the Dartford midfield and was instrumental in their winning run during the past month.

Dartford boss Steve King knows it will be a big miss after Berkeley-Agyepong made his final outing in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Dulwich Hamlet in National League South.

“Everyone knows he is a good player, but I know he is another level of player,” said King.

“He sees things, and when he reversed one ball (in the first half to Tyrique Hyde), even I didn’t see that was on. Just little things like that show he is way above the level (we’re at).

“We’re desperate to keep him but it was his last game. Aldershot have been watching him and they want him back. They play Tuesday night so it will be good to see what happens.

“We haven’t got anything like him. We’ve got other midfield players in the club but we need to find another Jacob.

“We haven’t got another Jacob in the building so we’ll be actively looking for another central midfield player that is like that.”

Dartford made it six wins from their last seven league games after Darren McQueen’s first-half goal saw off Dulwich at Princes Park.

The Darts had enough chances to put the game to bed in the first half but Dulwich keeper Charlie Grainger was in top form.

“We should have gone in three or four-one up after that first half performance in my opinion,” said King.

“They had one good chance at the back post where Alhaji (Sesay) made a good save.

“The chances we had, their keeper has pulled off one of the best saves I’ve seen since I’ve been down here and Hyde had another chance, Jacob had another chance where they got in the way of each other. We should have been more comfortable by half-time.

“Their manager was always going to have a go at them at half-time, the game was always going to change as they’ll throw caution to the wind a little bit.

“Elliot (Romain) could have added to it, and if he’d looked up and seen Darren McQueen at the far post, he would have had a tap-in as he was just standing there. But a goalscorer in goalscoring form is going to see the goal and want to hit the target.”
