Dartford have signed Plymouth Argyle defender Jamie Richards on a youth loan until February 28.

The 20-year-old left-sided player is set to make his debut against Bristol Rovers on Saturday although he is ineligible for Tuesday night's FA Trophy replay away to FC Halifax.

Darts boss Tony Burman said: "I am pleased to add Jamie to the squad.

"He is a very good prospect who has had good experience playing in Ireland and it will give us that balance on the left-hand side of the defence."

Left-back has been something of a problem position for Dartford this season. Adam Green started the season there but was later sent on loan to Leatherhead and had his contract terminated by mutual consent earlier this month.

Tom Bender joined the Darts in September and took Green's place in the team but his short-term contract was not extended when it expired at the start of January.

Recent signing Nathan Green can play at left-back but he has been used further forward since joining from Dagenham & Redbridge, so Callum Driver has been starting at full-back.

Richards, who's made three first-team appearances for Plymouth, has just spent six months on loan with Northern Irish club side Linfield.

He tweeted: "Delighted to sign a one-month loan at Dartford.

"Looking forward to hopefully getting a few games under my belt in the Conference."

Richards arrives at Princes Park with Dartford eight points from safety in the Vanarama Conference.
