Dartford are in danger of being cut adrift in the Skrill Premier after losing an eighth successive game on Saturday.
They were beaten 2-1 by FC Halifax Town, a side who arrived at Princes Park without a single away win in the league all season.
There were few chances in the first half, with Darts keeper Alan Julian twice denying Joe Ironside.
But the visitors began to apply real pressure after the break. Julian made a double save to thwart Adam Smith and then dived low to keep Paul Marshall's volley out of the bottom corner.
The deadlock was broken on 63 minutes when Dan Gardner's deep cross was converted by Ironside.
And it was 2-0, 11 minutes later, a deep cross from Smith headed in by Josh Wilson.
Connor Essam pulled a goal back for Dartford, powerfully heading home a Dave Martin free-kick - but it was too little, too late.
Tony Burman's side remain one place off the bottom, two points from safety, and having played up to four games more than the teams around them.
