The chance to link up with new joint-bosses Adam Flanagan and Jamie Coyle convinced Ben Greenhalgh the time was right to join Dartford.

Greenhalgh has followed his old Concord boss Flanagan to Princes Park while he knows Coyle well from their time together at Maidstone.

Dartford have always appealed to the forward - they're his local club and he watched them as a boy - and he's been close to joining them before.

Darts have finally landed their man and Greenhalgh, one of the biggest natural talents in National League South, can't wait to get started.

He said: "There's always been interest from Dartford and I've been interested because it's one of my most local clubs, I've played against them many times and I used to watch them when I was younger, when the ground was first built.

"This is the first opportunity where I've felt it's the right move.

"Flan's gone there, who I played well under at Concord, and I played with Coyley at Maidstone, so it's definitely something that suited me.

"I know a lot of the players, too, and with Callum Driver going there, it seems like a bit of a reunion."

Greenhalgh, 26, has played his best football under Flanagan, scoring and creating goals for fun at Concord.

And in Coyle, who was player-coach in Greenhalgh's second and third spells at Maidstone, they make the perfect team.

Greenhalgh said: "Flan's down to earth, he's easy to get on with and talk to and that helps in a manager.

"But he also pushes me a lot and he'll be the first to tell me if he doesn't think I'm doing well enough.

"Coyley's still the same person.

"He took a lot of the training at Maidstone and they were always good sessions, so I'm looking forward to working with him.

"He's UEFA A-licensed, he's an FA coach, so it's good to be playing under someone like that because I'd like to get into management down the line and I can learn from him."

With Torquay and Woking coming down and Billericay and Dulwich promoted, Greeenhalgh believes National South will be stronger next season.

But he's confident Dartford will be challenging.

He said: "It's going to be a tougher league but I think Flan and Coyley are the right managers.

"They've both played at Dartford and they're Dartford heroes in some ways.

"They're the right people to follow Tony Burman, who did a really good job.

"We've got to be looking at play-offs and then see where we can get."
