Steve Irving: Dartford FC joint-bosses Jamie Coyle and Adam Flanagan deserve greater backing

00:00, 25 December 2018

Dartford fans have been asked to give joint-managers Jamie Coyle and Adam Flanagan their full support.

The pair have picked up 34 points from their first 20 league games since succeeding Tony Burman in the summer.

Darts are sixth in the National League South table and co-chairman Steve Irving has backed the pair to build on that record.

He said: “We’ve got two excellent young managers who I don’t think have been given a fair shot at management with Dartford Football Club as yet.

“There are still some critics and I appeal to them to give the guys a chance.

“We’re sat in sixth place and the division is so tight, within two or three weeks we could be sat in second or third and within another few weeks we could easily go top.

“I don’t think we’re quite there yet, but I certainly think we’re in with a shout for the play-offs.

“I would ask everybody to be patient with the guys. We certainly will be and we want them to be given their full support in the way that we know Dartford fans support their manager as they have done in many years before.”

Dartford have chalked up 10 wins, four draws and six defeats under Coyle and Flanagan.

“I’m comfortable with where we are at the moment,” said Mr Irvine. “With the change of management in May, it was never going to be an easy season for the guys who came in but we’re very much behind them and confident they can kick on in the second half of this season.

“The first few months of the season were up and down but they made changes very quickly and turned it around with a long unbeaten run through September and October.

“Moving forward with a settled squad, if we can find somebody who’s going to score goals the season should improve and I think we will finish in the top seven.”
