Dartford striker Charlie Sheringham misses game to propose to his girlfriend

Charlie Sheringham has revealed his football managers knew he was planning to propose before his girlfriend did!
The 30-year-old missed Dartford's re-arranged home game with Torquay earlier this season after booking the surprise trip to New York with partner Rosie.
Sheringham initially thought he'd be missing a training session - but the plan backfired when the game was rescheduled.
"It caught me unaware really when I found out," said Sheringham.
"I thought I was only going to miss one training session but I had to miss a game because I'd booked the flights and it was a big moment in my life.
"I couldn't really chop it and change it around.
"I planned to go away because we didn't have a game but then the postponed game got re-arranged.
"As I'd already arranged to go away to propose to my girlfriend, I had to tell the management before I asked the missus!
"I don't think they were happy but once I told them they understood a little bit more!"
Sheringham was back in the starting line-up for Dartford in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Hampton after recovering from an ankle injury.
Reflecting on his stop-start season, the 12-goal striker added: "I had an injury when I first came (in September), then the proposal, and then another injury."
