Tony Burman pulled no punches in his assessment of Dartford's home defeat to Braintree on Saturday.

The Essex side won 2-0 at Princes Park thanks to goals from Alan Massey and Liam Enver-Marum, with Dartford never really at the races in a slow-paced second half.

Burman's side have now lost three on the bounce in The Skrill Premier.

The Darts boss said: "Braintree like to upset other sides, that’s the way they play. I’ve got no problem with it but we’ve got to be braver and more intelligent than we were in the second half.

"I don’t think we did up the tempo, we didn’t get going. You’ve got to be better than that and we weren’t.

"At this moment in time, we’ve lost three games and won one and it’s not good enough."

Dartford have failed to score in any of their last three games. They came into the Braintree clash on the back of a 3-0 defeat at Aldershot and a 2-0 loss at Halifax.

Burman said: "There are things that have got to be corrected. It’s silly things like where our set-pieces might go. They’ve got to go into areas where we can say ‘go and attack that’.

"At the moment, our free-kicks are not going where I want them to go and I’m not happy about that. We’re not giving people opportunities to actually score a goal.

"The guys taking them need a big kick up the backside at the moment.

"It’s not just that but there are things going wrong and people have got to listen. If they don’t listen, we have a problem."

Dartford visit Tamworth on Bank Holiday Monday, kick-off 3pm.
