Dartford boss Steve King said it’s crazy that his team are top of National League South despite not firing in front of goal.

The Darts didn’t find the breakthrough against Tonbridge on Tuesday night until the final 10 minutes and goals are proving hard to come by for King’s men.

King couldn’t fault his team’s display but knows they are yet to click when it comes to converting their opportunities.

“We are creating chances but we’re not scoring them,” said King. “Is it a worry? Yes, it’s a little worry but we’re top of the league not doing that so it’s a crazy scenario.

“It’s a bit of brilliance that won us the game. It was a sublime goal that won it, a brilliant backheel by Jacob Berkeley-Agyepong and Nassim L’Ghoul put it in the roof of the net.

“We should have been three, four or five-nil winners. It was the most one-sided game we’ve had this year. We know how they are going to set up and they are good at what they do but the number of chances we had was ridiculous. It was way past double figures in chances.

“I lost count of all the people that had chances, it seemed like everybody on the pitch had a chance. We’re not firing. It’s crazy because we should be winning that game very comfortably, with the performance.

“We can’t say it was a bad performance, it was a very good one, but the icing on the cake is the bit I am talking about.

“Those kinds of games give you grey hairs. It goes to show these games without fans is soul destroying and I feel for the players.

“That game with 1,000 or 1,500 people in here, they suck the ball in. To get up for a game of football like that is really difficult and I do sympathise with the players.

"There are players in that team like Marsh-Brown, Berkeley-Agyepong and Husin who play to crowds, they’re crowd-pleasers and without one it is difficult.”
