Dartford want to sign Cambridge United defender Rory McAuley while boss Tony Burman is also hopeful of keeping hold of captain Elliot Bradbrook.

Plenty of supporters assumed Bradbrook would be on his way once the Darts had been given their relegation reprieve. Not having to make the long away trips in Conference Premier was a key factor behind Bradbrook’s decision to sign a new contract last month but now he faces the prospect of juggling his work commitments with life in a national division again.

However, the midfielder hasn’t ruled out staying on, while Burman has opened talks with McAuley, transfer-listed by the newly-promoted U’s after a three-month loan spell with the Darts.

The 24-year-old’s fantastic performances at centre-half saw him named vice-president’s player-of-the-year.

Burman said: "We’ve been in contact with Cambridge. Rory’s got another year left on his contract and wants to play at the highest level (of non-league), which we’re now in.

"He’s looking at the Football League and Conference. We’ve spoken to Cambridge and we’ve spoken to Rory. But what happens in the future, I don’t know because he’ll have a lot of offers."

When asked about Bradbrook, Burman said: "The conversations I’ve had with Elliot have been positive. He’s got a situation with his work commitments, we all know that but it isn’t as far down the line as it might have been at this stage. I’m hoping he can resolve the problem."
