Elliot Bradbrook scored a stunner on Tuesday but admits it wasn’t even his best goal of the week.
His 25-yard cracker in the 4-0 win over Margate took his season tally to 20 – a career best – but he insists his volleyed effort at the weekend against Truro was even better.
The Darts beat Truro 5-3 on Saturday.
The 32-year-old Dartford captain said: “It sounds terrible saying it but Saturday was a volley from just outside the box and it was probably better.
“(Tuesday's goal) was right up there (with the best) though. Shots from outside the box can go in any number of places and if I did it 10 more times it would end up in the car park. It was a good one.”
Match Report: Dartford 4 Margate 0
Bradbrook’s previous campaign best was 19. Last year he got 18. He’s gone even better this time around and there are still seven games of the regular season to play.
“I just try and be in the right place at the right time,” said the skipper.
“I am pleased to get to 20. A lot of my goals come from set pieces and it is about making runs into the box and that is what I have done throughout my career. I will keep doing that, even with some old legs underneath me.”
Anything above 10 goals is a bonus for Bradbrook and so he has no more personal goal targets to chase.
He said: “To score 10 from central midfield is pretty good and I have managed to do that every season. That is my aim and what comes beyond is a bonus.
“All I care about is winning to be honest. I could score five but if we let in six I wouldn’t be happy. We got a good result on Tuesday, we played the ball around well and scored goals and got the win, which is what matters.”
Bradbrook talks about his future and manager Tony Burman looks ahead to Saturday in this week's Dartford Messenger.
