A missed penalty and the late dismissal of young debutant Ebou Adams completed a disappointing afternoon for Dartford in their Vanarama Conference defeat at Moss Rose.

Elliot Bradbrook missed the spot-kick, awarded by referee Ben Toner, only 10 minutes into the game after home skipper Paul Turnbull fouled Andy Pugh in the box. Bradbrook stepped up only to see home keeper Rhys Taylor stop his first effort, and then push away the rebound.

Lee Bell put the home side ahead 12 minutes later, seizing on a poor clearance, before beating Darren Ibrahim aided by a huge deflection.

Bell went close to a dipping volley, but Macclesfield held the lead until 10 minutes from time when Ibrahim failed to deal with a flicked-on set-piece, allowing Thierry Audel to pounce from just yards out.

There was a sting in the tale with both sides finishing with 10 men. Home defender George Pilkington was shown a red card for pulling down Tom Bradbrook, then Academy product Adams picked up a second yellow in stoppage time.

Dartford finish their season at home to Lincoln City on Saturday. The game at Princes Park kicks off at 5.15pm, in line with the rest of the last day fixtures in the division.
