The National League has informed its member clubs their 2020/21 season is expected to start on October 3.
Several clubs made the announcement after being contacted by the league, whose play-off finals will be held this weekend.
Stockport County, Wrexham and Torquay, amongst others, released statements on Monday night confirming the date, which is subject to FA approval.
The proposed start date could mean matches can be played in front of fans, as crowds could be allowed back into sports stadiums from October.
Dover Athletic are preparing for another season in the National League.
They could be joined in the top-tier of English non-league football by Dartford who visit Weymouth in the National League South play-off final on Saturday after their 2-1 semi-final victory at Havant & Waterlooville last weekend.
Meanwhile, in National League South, Ebbsfleet United will join the likes of Maidstone United, Tonbridge Angels and Welling after Fleet were relegated as the 2019/20 campaign was ended early due to the coronavirus crisis.
If approved, the campaign will run until May 29 next year, with the play-offs being played in June.
Teams in the sixth-tier will start their 2020/21 season with a tie in the FA Cup second qualifying round.
