Dartford’s season turned on Tuesday and manager Tony Burman hopes their strength of character will get them another result against Forest Green on Saturday.

Burman’s side have nine points from their first 10 games in the Vanarama Conference after coming from behind to beat Kent rivals Dover 2-1 in midweek.

They were second-best for much of that game but - given the picture towards the foot of the table - the result was all that mattered.

Burman said: "We’ve been unfortunate in a lot of games this season and football does turn itself round sometimes. It probably did for us on Tuesday night.

"The guys have come back from a goal down on Tuesday and they came back from two goals down last Tuesday (against Eastleigh). When you’ve got that in the side, if you get that character, that’ll win you a lot of points.

"We’re building that character again. It isn’t perfect but we’re still trying to build it."

Forest Green are third-favourites to win the title but they arrive at Princes Park 12th having not won away since the opening day.

But Burman said: "It’s a tough game. Our supporters are going to be surprised how big they are. They’re big, physically, all over the pitch, so we’ve got another challenge."

Right-back Lee Burns is a doubt after suffering a thigh strain in the first half of the Dover game. Andy Pugh’s Achilles problem kept him out of the Kent derby but he might be fit enough to feature on Saturday.
