Two winners last week for column followers. Top dog Sportsman Pat won over 540m on Saturday night at odds of 6/4 favourite in a top flight S1 race by no less than two and a quarter lengths while Yacht Zilla scored at odds of 9/4 on the Saturday morning’s card.

Hopefully, I can continue the current winning streak and find you the winner of this Saturday’s feature race – the final of The Owners Bonus race for S3 grade dogs.

The two semi-finals were run at the weekend and the winners of these two races were both trained by Julie Luckhurst. She will now be fancying her chances of landing the £500 winner’s prize after Three Three and Never Mind Eh won their semis for her. Before the semis, I thought that on paper, Three Three looked like the one to beat.

Admittedly, the dog is better known here for his performances over the 380m distance, in which he has run before in top grade A1 races, however this event is over 540m and the dog is yet to win at S2 level but having been dropped down to this grade of S3 he was always going to be a big player. And with a win time of 34.48 secs, he should have a great chance in the final if repeating.

His biggest threat may well come from kennel mate Never Mind Eh who was making her Crayford debut last Saturday and her win time of 34.33 gives her a two-length advantage in running over Three Three. Significantly, she also had to work her way through the field to land her semi win whilst Three Three led away from the traps in his semi. Never Mind Eh was previously racing at Romford in their top grade S1 over 575 metres.

It is difficult to see the winner coming from anything other than one of the pair and with Three Three being a wide runner and Never Mind Eh being a railer, they should both enjoy a trouble-free run to that all-important first bend on Saturday night.

I will side with Never Mind Eh but she will not have the luxury of being able to make any mistakes in running, otherwise her kennel mate will take full advantage.

I would also like to recommend that you look out for both Tinas Charlie and Close Range who were both unlucky losers recently and I expect them to gain some quick compensation.
