All the latest from Crayford Greyhound Track

Last week’s form guides proved useful as both Samphire Mia and Saxonthebeach won at odds of 3-1 and 4-1 respectively. Did you have both winners?

Close Range just failed to make it a hat-trick of wins for column readers when finishing second during the week for the fourth successive time. As I stated last week, there is no more a deserving dog worthy of a win here at the moment. Let’s hope she can go one better this week.

Over the last couple of weeks we have held a series of inter-track races at Crayford against greyhounds from Wimbledon Stadium. These races are always popular and see three Crayford dogs against three Wimbledon greyhounds in each race.

There is always a bit of healthy rivalry between each camp and I am happy to report the home dogs fared well.

While our runners took full advantage of how to run the track, some of the performances were good and will no doubt produce further wins, so here are my ideas on those Crayford dogs to follow.

Dash On Black was impressive when winning a top-flight race over 540m in a fast 34.05sec. Known also for her sprinting ability over 380m, she is equally adept over both distances.

This inter-track win will have given her a lift as she has been racing in our regular graded races in top grades A1 over 380m and S2 over 540m but had yet to register a win in either.

This victory could now well see her winning in one of those two grades, so keep an eye open for her.

Short Stroll trained by Patsy Cusack is one of those dogs that to my mind has always possessed that little bit of extra class, although he has not always shown it during his 72 career races.

For the last two years the dog has constantly been in top-class graded races here and also features in open race events on occasion. His experience was put to full use in his inter-track race when he romped home in 46.02 over our marathon distance of 714m.

He is a dog that has won plenty and also had enough second-place finishes to make him always worthy of consideration.

If you choose to follow him, you will get a run for your money.
