It will be a special afternoon on October 7 with the home leg of the Track Championship.

Crayford will be competing in their area group stage against Romford and Sittingbourne.

The three tracks will have a home leg and each of the 10 races at every venue will feature two dogs from each track.

The greyhounds will earn points based on their finish position in a race. The track with the highest combined scores from all three fixtures will progress to the national final at a neutral venue yet to be announced.

The fixtures at Sittingbourne and Romford will be on the evenings of October 26 and November 17 respectively.

There are 18 tracks in six groups of three and each group will provide a winner with the best six tracks meeting in a grand final to produce the BAGS/SIS Track Champions for 2014.

Each home leg will feature races over the sprint, standard and stayers distances, so here this will be over 380, 540 and 714m.

Apart from the competition between tracks, this is an extremely prestigious
event.

The total prize money allocated by the sponsors is in the region of £200,000 and Sky will be broadcasting many of the group fixtures, as well as the grand final on Tuesday, December 23.

If you have never seen one of these events, I would encourage you to come down on October 7 for this spectacular event.

Our trainers will be gearing their best greyhounds to hopefully be selected to represent Crayford in this event and although I am not aware at the moment of our potential participants, I will be giving you some information about our expected runners over the next couple of weeks.

We have some promising dogs here at the moment, so hopefully, we will have a strong team.

Last week’s hot tip, Off Topic, romped home on Saturday at 9-4 making it five wins from six starts. His improvement can be expected to continue.

His win was further complemented by another column tip last week, Phat Mary, who won on the same card at 5-4 giving followers a nice double of over 7-1.
