In racing form, lines tend to hold up and are generally good indicators when looking for winners.
Last week Samphire Mia put in a sound performance when a close second to my own dog and it was no surprise she won on her reappearance at the weekend.
When looking for form guides, it is not such much the level of grade, more the way a dog has run. I thought she looked a potential winner after finishing a close second to Saxonthebeach over 380m.
She was beaten by just over a length, so no doubt that was a factor when trainer Jean Liles switched to 540.
After trapping out in fourth, Mia put in a fast sectional time and went on to win by three-and-a-quarter lengths.
With two wins and a second in her last three races, she is in top form at the moment.
Let me give you some ideas on others which may follow suit.
There probably is not a dog more deserving of a win than top-grader Close Range, second in three consecutive A1 races.
She came close on her last outing when beaten by just three quarters-of-a-length from fourth place early on.
Since last September, she has run from either traps two or three but I would like to see her in the four box from which she won three races in succession.
Old Father Time is racing in grade A2 in which he has won on several occasions.
While he has featured in the odd A1 race, his current grade is within his scope and he looks like he is about to strike again after a game finish just over a length behind Canvas Dan a week ago. Dan, with two wins and a second, is an excellent form guide.
Old Father Time stuck to his task and despite being bumped at the first bend, chased the leader well. If he had not been impeded, I think he would have won.
He has nearly 100 races on his card and I expect him to win again.
