It was a strange feeling at the final whistle on Saturday after losing at home to Leeds.

I’d probably just scored the best goal of my career to date but if you asked me at full-time, I’d have taken a clean sheet over it every time.

That’s not to say I wasn’t pleased with it – especially as it was the equaliser at the time. But, when you lose at the end, it’s never going to mean as much.

The good news was that we scored two goals and we haven’t been doing that in games recently but what we have been doing is defending well as a team and keeping clean sheets in games and we certainly didn’t do those things on Saturday.

When you concede four the likelihood is that you’re going to lose any game, so it is about us pulling together and moving towards the next one as a group.

It’s certainly true that the conditions weren’t ideal but it was the same for both teams.

Perhaps the weather suited them a little more than us but you have to get on with it and as a group we aren’t going to be making any excuses. Football can throw anything at you, so there is no point complaining about the pitch despite us not getting the right result in the end.

I only seem to be scoring screamers at the moment – I was proud that the supporters voted my effort at Huddersfield as October’s goal of the month and it would be great to get it for November as well. It was also nice that Chris Powell called my effort on Saturday our goal of the season so far but as I said it would have meant much more if we’d ended up winning.

The international break has come at a time when we can get some players fit and ready to play, so hopefully by the time we travel to QPR we’ll have players off the treatment table so we can give a good account of ourselves.
