Bailey Vose: Dartford FC may ask to extend Colchester United goalkeeper's loan deal

00:00, 09 November 2018

Dartford are considering an extension to goalkeeper Bailey Vose’s loan deal.

Vose joined from Colchester for one month initially after it was announced Deren Ibrahim was leaving the club.

The 20-year-old endured a difficult debut away to Truro as the Darts were soundly beaten 3-1.

But he made some terrific saves in Saturday’s 2-1 victory at Gloucester.

Dartford have two more league games before the month is up and their joint-managers are monitoring the situation.

Adam Flanagan said: “Bailey was superb on Saturday.

“He’s still a young keeper but he’s got experience at this level playing for me at Concord and for Jamie (Coyle) at Welling last year.

“We feel he’s got a lot of promise and we wanted to see how he performed initially in the games in the first month.

“If he performed well, we would speak with Colchester to see if we could extend his loan further.

“He’s got probably one more (home) game against Oxford and then we’ll assess the situation.

“He did very well on Saturday – he did what you need away from home.

“Every team will get chances so you need a keeper to make those saves and he did.”

Dartford haven’t kept a clean sheet since August but Flanagan is looking for improvement at the other end of the pitch too.

He said: “I think we’re in the bottom four or five with regard to goals scored (17 in 15 games) so that’s an area of development.

“It’s very much a work in progress.

“It’s not been perfect but we still find ourselves in what I feel is a fair position.”
