Two goals in the final 18 minutes saw Welling lose to leaders Maidenhead in National League South on Saturday.

Dominant Wings were on course for victory after Dean Morgan fired home just after the hour mark.

But goals from Sean Marks and Dave Tarpey turned the game around for the visitors.

Welling were the better side in the first half. They were almost ahead on 18 minutes when Danny Waldren fed Adam Coombes, whose right-foot shot was well saved by keeper Carl Pentney.

Ali Fuseini then laid the ball off during a sweeping Welling move on 26 minutes but Coombes saw his effort from the edge of the box come back off the bar.

Another flowing Welling move saw Sam Hatton nod down Morgan's centre just before half-time but Coombes sent his effort over from close range.

Maidenhead enjoyed their best spell of the game early in the second half. Marks headed over a corner while Tarpey went clean through but was denied by Welling keeper Chris Lewington.

Welling, who lost the impressive Rickie Hayles to injury, went ahead when Coombes fed Morgan, who produced a low finish beyond Pentney.

Waldren then saw his 20-yard shot well saved at the near post before Coombes was denied by the woodwork for the second time with Pentney well beaten.

Maidenhead equalised on 72 minutes when a deep cross by substitute Jordan Cox was nodded in by Marks.

Welling responded and Coombes shot over from the edge of the box.

But Maidenhead had the last laugh as an awful clearance by Jordon Brown gifted a chance for Tarpey, who was never going to miss a golden opportunity to wrap up the points.
