Dartford have sent a message to their title rivals that they mean business in the promotion race.

That’s according to striker Danny Mills, whose two goals in the last two games have helped Darts stay top of National League South.

With 10 games to go, the leading pack are still tightly bunched but Mills believes Dartford will finish the job.

“I think we showed on Saturday that we’re definitely title contenders,” he said after the 4-1 win over Truro.

“That was definitely a message. We’ve beaten a team who are in the play-offs and we’ve

shown how good we can be on the day.

“Two weeks ago we were off the back of two losses but we’ve showed our character.

“We were 1-0 down against Wealdstone, with our backs against the wall and we showed that determination and grit.

“That was a turning point for us because coming off the back of two losses, it would have been easy to lay down and die and say ‘we’re going to lose again’ but the determination and spirit from everyone was brilliant.

“There’s no doubt in my mind that we can go and win this league. We’ve shown that throughout the time I’ve been here and the league table doesn’t lie.

“You’re top of the league for a reason and hopefully, in these 10 games, we can get as many wins as we can and get promoted.

“The character in the dressing room is brilliant and we know, as a team, if we stick together and if the fans stick with us, we will be successful.”

Mills, who joined on loan from Ebbsfleet in December, has since extended his stay at Princes Park until the end of the season.

His opportunities were limited at Fleet but Mills has been a regular under Tony Burman

and is starting to show his best form.

He said: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s been brilliant, all the boys have been supportive

and the banter’s great. It’s such a close, tight-knit group.

“Tony’s been brilliant as well. He’s kept faith in me, he’s looked after me and he’s been welcoming, as everyone at the club has.

“It’s great to be playing for something every week. That was one of the main reasons I decided to come here, because I wanted to compete for something.”
