Dartford manager Steve King says winger Luke Wanadio has been a model of consistency

Luke Wanadio’s consistent performances have been praised by Dartford boss Steve King.

Wanadio has been overshadowed by the goals of Elliott Romain and Darren McQueen since King took charge.

But the Darts manager has been impressed by Wanadio’s efforts. He scored in last weekend’s defeat to Hampton but King feels there are more goals to come.

“I’m pleased with his contribution, he’s been quite consistent,” said King.

“Wingers are an enigma, aren’t they? People think they play really well or they don’t but Luke has done well for us.

“He scored a great goal against Tonbridge and the header he got last weekend is something that we’ve worked in on training, one wideman crossing and the other one arriving at the far post.

“He’s been one of the better players since I’ve come to the club. He wants to learn, he’s always listening and we’re only touching the iceberg. There’s a lot more to come.

“There’s more goals to come from Luke. There was the year when he was at Dartford before that he scored 15 or so goals and then he got a move to Bromley.

“The only thing missing has been goals.”

King also explained Wanadio was only left out for the previous week’s 5-1 win at Chippenham after Darts saw how bad the playing surface was.

“He was going to start and then we saw how bad the pitch was,” said King. “We didn’t think it was suitable for a winger.

“He saw that he was in the team but then I looked at his face and he looked at my face, and that was the only reason that he was left out.”

“He had nothing to prove against Hampton as he was always going to be playing that game.”
