Cash is being handed out to support the town’s athletes and sports clubs, in a bid to promote an active lifestyle among Dover people.
Dover district and town councils are funding Active Dover Grants. Sporty residents are asked to grab an application form and get it filled in prior to the deadline on January 27, at noon.
The sums range from £300 for an individual or £500 for a club.
The individual funding is there to help people wh
o want to improve their performance, be able to attend further competitions, or increase their participation or memberships to certain clubs.
Applicants must participate in a sport at a county, national or international level and live within the Dover district, including Deal, Sandwich and Aylesham.
They must be affiliated to a relevant national governing body of sport. Evidence must be provided of sporting achievement.
Finally, people applying should also seek a letter from a club or school official, or a national governing body of sport.
In the application, people must demonstrate that additional grants have been sourced via sponsors or fundraising events, or even through applications to other funding bodies.
The target areas are for those with low income, disabilities or people from a miniority ethnic group.
The club grant is also there to help groups achieve a Clubmark Accreditation, which is a nationally recognised title provided by Sport England to show communities that specific clubs are “recognised as a safe, rewarding and fulfilling place for participants of all ages as well as helping parents and carers know that they’re choosing the right club for their young people.”
Clubs must also submit two years of accounts along with proof that other funds are actively being sought via community organised events.
