Deal and Dover band Gentlemen of Few will soon find out if they are through to the final four of Radio 2’s Young Folk Awards.
Last month the bluegrass folk band performed in Kendal along with other acts from across the country for a chance to win the award.
They performed their latest songs for 200 people and a panel of five judges, including producers and members of band Bellowhead.
Nine other artists performed and the final four will be announced on Radio 2 on Saturday.
The winner will be announced in February and will headline Cambridge Folk Festival and play at the Royal Albert Hall.
Drummer Luke ‘Kit’ Evans, 17, said: “I don’t know how I’m going to survive waiting until Saturday. We’re playing a gig in Surrey so we won’t even be the first to find out.
“Now we’ve been on Radio 2 we’ve got a lot more gigs lined up in Surrey, Cornwall and even Oxford Airport.”
Gentlemen of Few are all studying music and performance arts. Their new single, Room to Grow Without the Damage of Time, will be launched at the Astor Theatre in Deal on December 7.
They be supported by Coco and the Butterfields. Music starts at 7pm.
Tickets cost £6 which can be booked from the box office or by calling 01304 370220.
