A woman from Sandwich has found what could be a copy of the first issue of the News of the World in her cupboard.
Amy Kiddell, 86, of Barnes End Court, said she found the newspaper when clearing out a cupboard she had not looked in for 11 years.
The pensioner could not believe what excellent condition the paper was in as the paper is dated October 1, 1843.
Mrs Kiddell said she did not know whether it had belonged to her late husband Donald Kiddell or whether it was in the house before they moved 11 years ago.
She added: “I was just clearing out the cupboard, I haven’t been in there in such a long time and I found it. I showed it to my family and friends and they said I should get it looked at to see how much it could be worth.
"They said it was most likely a copy as apparently a few of them were made.”
Copies of the first ever edition of the News of the World were created when they closed the paper after 168 years in 2011.
It was shut down following the phone hacking scandal.
The last edition was published on July 10, 2011.
