A new Roman themed adventure golf course in Deal is almost complete with bosses preparing to announce an official opening date.
Named Roman Landings, the 18-hole attraction on Walmer Green is being built along the seafront next to the paddling pool.
Its design references the area’s vast history including nods to smugglers and the town's fishing past.
The Tudor Rose, which pays homage to both Walmer and Dover Castles, also features in the course.
Water will run through the course with players expected to pull themselves across some areas using a raft.
Renovations are also taking place to the exterior and surface of the paddling pool which owners hope will be able to open the same time as the course.
New drone photos taken by Garry Begg show the progress at the course.
It is being run by Michael Humphries, who already runs adventure course Rascal Bay in Manston, Thanet.
He took over the pool lease last summer and intends to keep it free to users for as long as possible.
He said: "We don't have a definite date yet, but it won't be too long. We're hoping to reveal the opening date later this week.
"The course is looking great; it has surpassed our expectations."
Once open, the attraction will offer a booking option as well as children’s parties.
Together, the golf activity and the pool will create 10 new jobs including a cook and a course supervisor.
Mr Humphries will run each site in conjunction with each other, but with separate entrances.
The scheme was passed by planners in February 2021, with construction beginning earlier this year.
Some councillors thought it would be a “great asset” to the town, while others thought it was being located in the “wrong place”.
It was passed with conditions that the public toilets be signposted and the green space would be reinstated should the venture end up not being viable.
