The 27-year-old man was walking down Worthington Street towards the town centre just after 3am and as he reached the junction with Queen’s Gardens, he was approached from behind by two men who jumped on him and knocked him to the ground.

The man was then assaulted which left him with a broken arm, a broken leg, bruising to his face and cuts and bruises to his arm.

A number of people came to the man’s assistance before the police arrived, and officers would like to speak to them.
