The army has been called in to aid severe floods in Eastry.

Army vehicles were spotted at 11am this morning on Brook Street and have now reportedly parked up at The Cross.

Resident of The Cross and owner of the Eastry Fish Bar, Christine Johnson said: “They have just arrived with loads of sand and they are on their way down Brook Street and to the pond.”

The village of Eastry has suffered from extreme flooding over the last few days when a spring appeared in an garden in Brook Street.

Lawns, drives, vegetable gardens and roads were flooded by the constant stream which broke out on Wednesday last week.
