Glasses will be raised at Deal and Betteshanger Rugby Football Club on Saturday when the eighth annual Beer Festival will be staged.

Entry is free, there will be a selection of ales and ciders to try and there is an aim to give the event a Kentish flavour.

Serge Orlov, events and publicity director, said: “The club remains committed to supporting all things Kent, with the majority of the ales on offer produced in the county and all the food sourced from local suppliers.

“This year promises to be bigger than ever with more than 15 different real ales and ciders available at only £2 per pint. The Ripple Steam Brewery will be selling its CAMRA gold award winner for best beer in Kent.”

The event at The Drill Field, Canada Road, Walmer, starts at 1pm and there will be hot food.

Mr Orlov added: “Thanks go to local butcher G.M. & M. Johns of Dover Road, Walmer, for supplying the burgers and sausages for the second year running and local baker Al’s Bakery of Deal High Street for supplying the buns.

“The club bar will be open for those wishing to drink soft or other alcoholic drinks and there will be live music throughout the afternoon from local Deal band Carey & Rathbone. The Deal and Betteshanger Beer Festival continues to enjoy the support and endorsement of the Campaign for Real Ales.”
