Deal Walking Festival is being launched on Thursday this week by Town Mayor Marlene Burnham

The festival, organised by the White Cliffs Ramblers, features walks every day until Wednesday, August 28.

There is a total of 23 walks, ranging from two to 18 miles, including historical and special interest walks, health walks, walks for the disabled, a walk about the smugglers of Deal, a treasure trail for families, and a walk about the wildlife in and around Deal. Some walks involve taking buses from Deal and walking back.

Cllr Burnham will launch the festival on the green behind Deal Castle at the start of the three-mile Three Castles Walk, which starts at 2pm and will visit Deal, Sandown and Walmer castles.

The full walks programme is on the festival website, www.dealwalkingestival.org.uk
