Big names come to Deal

Award winning jazz guitarist Martin Taylor will team up with acoustic and slide guitar virtuoso Martin Simpson to play on Thursday from 7.30pm. Martin Taylor was name-checked on BBC Radio 2’s Breakfast Show in June 2012 as being considered the best guitarist by Jeff Beck and Martin Simpson is acknowledged as one of the finest acoustic and slide guitar players in the world. Tickets cost £18 in advance £20 on the door.
Geno Washington – still the number one 1960s Soul Man – plays tomorrow (Friday) from 7.30pm. He was recently invited to play a sell-out audience as part of the annual Lord’s Taverners fundraiser at the Albert Hall and was also picked by Ray Davies to play as the main act at the Royal Festival hall at his Summer Meltdown finale. Tickets £14 in advance or £16 on the door.
Enjoy the tastes of Italian wines among experts on Thursday, October 10. It is the theatre’s third wine tasting evening and will combine music, wine, food prepared by Scott and Suzanne from the Deal Dining Club, with host Mark Woods from Boutinot supported by a team from Hercules Wine. Tickets £25.
After a career of more than 60 years, film and TV siren Honor Blackman is visiting Deal. In conversation with director Richard Digby Day, she tells stories of her childhood, of growing up during the Second World War, of her rise to stardom, her leather-clad triumph in television’s The Avengers and her casting as Pussy Galore in the James Bond movie Goldfinger.
