A group of friends are putting their best feet forward by organising a charity fitness night to help keep the memory of a special man close to his family.
Lisa Lee and Natasha Jones of Shake Up Fitness are holding the keep fit evening of Bokwa – a popular group exercise programme to music – at Deal Welfare Club on Saturday October 19.
They and the event organiser Vicky Foy are hoping to raise enough cash so their friend Amanda Alway can buy some special rings made out of her late husband’s ashes that she and her children can wear.
Miss Foy said: “They will cost £1,200 for all three.
“We are hoping to get as many people to take part and donate as possible” - Vicky Foy
Mrs Alway’s husband Dave died in July after an 18-month battle against leukaemia. He was well known as a taxi driver.
The couple have two primary aged children.
The idea of the rings, which are made by web company Ashes into Glass, was suggested by her sister in law Natasha Weaver, and so the fundraising effort started among their friends.
As well as rings, the firm makes pendants and other jewellery.
The Bokwathon runs from 7pm at Deal Welfare Club on Saturday, October 19, and costs £4 per person.
There will be a raffle with donated prizes from Boots, The Sun House, Elaine Standen Make-Up artist, Ponies for Parties and Co-op of Dover.
