People who were evacuated from their homes at Dover while bomb disposal experts examined an abandoned car have now been told they can return.
Police say the evacuation and cordon were just a precautionary measure.
The incident was at Dryden Road on Dover’s Buckland Estate where 20 homes were cleared and people were looked after at Buckland Community Centre (below).
Residents said they were advised to stay at the back of their homes before being ordered to leave altogether.
The scene was declared safe just before 5.30pm.
