Hundreds of people flocked to Deal Pier to take part in the annual Boxing Day swim.
People came in fancy dress and Santa hats to join in the tradition which today marked its 40th year.
It took place next to Deal Pier from 11am this morning, attracting hundreds of participants and spectators alike despite the downpours.
There were fears the event might be cancelled because of spiralling cases of Covid-19 but organisers at Deal Rotary Club felt it was safe to go ahead as long as people acted "sensibly".
The organisation roped in extra volunteers to help with crowd control, maintaining safety - and to walk round collecting donations in buckets.
It is not yet known how much money was raised but all the proceeds will be split between local good causes.
The annual event has raised more than £50,000 since its inception.
