Thieves smashed a hairdressing salon window with a metal sheep and made away with eight pairs of hair straighteners.

Chris Delsignore, owner of The Cutting Room salon in Queen Street, Deal, estimates £1,400 worth of limited edition pink GHD straighteners were stolen from her window display in the early hours of Friday morning.

She said: "It is easy pickings for these people.

"They can sell them off really quickly because GHDs are in strong demand.

"There had just been a delivery, we had set up the window display and then they smashed the window sometime between 10pm and 5am."

Police spokesman Jon Green said officers are investigating the crime and he appealed to witnesses to come forward.

The window was smashed and the thieves just reached in and swiped them.

A few pairs of original black GHDs are also missing.

Police spokesman Jon Green added: "Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Andy Perham on 01303 289141.

"Alternatively if you have information but wish to remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Ref FY/13354/10."
