The family of a young woman killed when a car overturned in a field near Dover have today spoken of their grief.

Emma Willis, from Elvington, died when a vehicle she was in flipped onto its roof after leaving Sandwich Road, at Waldershare, early on Saturday.

The 23-year-old, of Larch Road, was described by her family as "always joking and laughing".

Emma was a passenger in a blue Vauxhall Corsa that left the road and overturned in the early hours.

A 21-year-old man, also a passenger, remains in hospital today in a critical but stable condition.

Four people have been arrested over the incident and were later released on police bail.

Emma's family said in a statement today: "We can't believe Emma has gone. She was always joking and laughing. Anyone that knew her will never meet anyone like her again.

"She was looking forward to watching Liverpoool play. As she said, it will be the only time that they will be at the top of the league.

"We will always miss her and love her forever."

Kent Police said three men and a woman - all from the Dover area - were arrested in connection with the smash.

They have been interviewed by detectives and released on police bail pending further inquiries.

A police spokesman said the Corsa contained four people when it crashed at 1.55am.

Emma died at the scene and the man was taken to King's College Hospital in London.

DS Scott Lynch, from the Kent Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "We believe this Corsa was in convoy with two other vehicles that night and I ask anyone who witnessed the actual collision or the manner of their driving in the Elvington or Whitfield areas to contact my department."

Dover firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to cut the casualties free.

Crews from South East Coast Ambulance Service were also at the scene to treat the man before he was taken to hospital.

The road was closed in both directions at the Kennel Hill junction while crash investigators worked at the scene.

Kent Highways said officers helped police with diverting traffic before the road was re-opened.
