Celebrating the Chinese New Year

The start of the Chinese New Year - the year of the rabbit - will be celebrated on Dover seafront on Thursday evening, February 3.

Dover Arts Development has organised a range of entertainment, starting at 6.30pm, at the North Downs Way end of trail marker, by the swimmers statue opposite the Royal Cinque Ports Yacht Club.

There will be performances by China Crisis guitarist Colin Hinds, Fire Poi master Ivan Cleak, Light Graffitti by the intrepid Urban Explorers, readings of Mersey Poets-influenced verse by Untidy Barry and Dover Beach by actor Roy Boyd.

Light refreshments are being provided and people are being advised to dress for the cold.

At the end of the performances, a number of Chinese lanterns will be set off.
Afterwards, the yacht club is inviting people to a a Chinese buffet at £6 a head which can be booked in advance on 01304 206262.
