Financial consultant Barry Williams has resigned as chairman of Dover District Chamber of Commerce.

Mr Williams said he and the board had seen a number of changes through to fruition and it was time to stand down as chairman and from the board.

“I enjoyed my time as chairman and for the 10 years I was on the board and offer my best wishes to David Foley, the chief executive and the new strengthened board,” he said.

Mr Williams said other directors had also stood down “for personal reasons” having stayed on to see the changes through.

A former district councillor and chairman of the Dover and Deal Conservative Association, Mr Williams resigned as chairman of the Hellfire Corner Association three months ago. The association organises the annual 1940s weekends in Dover.

It is understood four new directors have been appointed, including Mr Foley and former ferry boss Bill Moses.
