Kerry Banks and Jo Allen, of Deal, raise £19,000 for Breast Cancer Now after trek through Jordan

Two women have raised £19,000 for charity after a gruelling Middle East trek in temperatures of up to 41C.

Kerry Banks and Jo Allen, both from Deal, marched through barren lands and up and down mountains over five days in Jordan.

They walked up to nine hours a day, at times on altitudes of more than 1,200 metres above sea level.

They made it to the a historic and archaeological city of Petra, classed as one of the wonders of the world.

The pair marched for Breast Cancer Now as part of a large group of other charity fundraisers on the gruelling trip organised through a company called Charity Challenge.

Mrs Banks BEM has been an ambassador and fundraiser for Breast Cancer Now for more than16 years and Mrs Allen has been a supporter and fundraiser for it he last nine years.

Mrs Banks said: "This was my fifth overseas challenge for this charity and it has been by far the hardest thing I have ever done. I cried and felt like giving up after day two.

"However I didn’t and I I laughed a lot too. A huge thanks to everyone that donated including my sponsors."

Mrs Allen said: " I would just like to say a huge thank you to all that have supported me and helped raise much needed funds for Breast Cancer Now."
