A colourful mural has now brightened up Dover Library’s dull corridor thanks to the Princes Trust.
Dover Library, based on Market Square, received a bit of a makeover last month. The trust revamped a corridor wall space as part of a community project.
Princes Trust volunteers funded the cost of the regeneration by doing sponsored walks and fundraising in Dover’s town centre.
The trust aids young adults who are not in employment or education by involving them in team-building projects.
The talented bunch designed and constructed the mural by themselves, brightening up the entrance into the main area.
The young adults were commended for their efforts by the customer services development librarian for the Dover District, Lynne Steward. She said: “Dover Library was very pleased to be able to help the Princes Trust enable their team of young adults to complete their community projects programme this autumn.
“The corridor into the children’s library needed brightening up. We gave the group an outline of what we would like and they drafted a design, organised materials and with in two weeks we had a wonderful new look to the area. This has really added a new and vibrant dimension to the entrance area to the children’s library and we have had a lot of good feedback from our customers.”
