Pupils and staff from a former school are meeting again this weekend for their annual reunion.

The 31st such annual event is organised by two former pupils, Anne Kent (nee Terry) and Sylvia Main (nee Pain).

Mrs Paine, who was at the school from 1950 to 1959, said: "Last year's reunion had 25 pupils at staff.

"It was so enjoyable, sharing memories, photographs and news updates."

Mrs Main was at the school in the 1950s and 1960s.

St Ethelburga's was a convent school in Queen Street, which opened in 1878 and was demolished around 1980.

It was for girls of primary and secondary school age and for boys up to the age of 11.

It stretched along West Street to Park Street, in the place of the present Aldi construction site.

The reunion, which includes a buffet lunch, is at the Royal Hotel in Beach Street from noon to 4pm on Sunday.

It is for staff and pupils from any time in the school's last decades and cost is £13, payable on the day.

If you want to join ring Mrs Kent on 01304 375080 in advance so numbers can be worked out for catering.
