Canterbury men David Connor and Richard Bowler charged with killing P&O chef Alun Williams found wrapped in clingfilm in Dover flat

Two men have been charged with killing a chef found wrapped in clingfilm in a Dover flat.

David Connor, 21, and 35-year-old Richard Bowler, both of Sturry Road, Canterbury, have been charged with Alun Williams' manslaughter.

The pair have been released on police bail until April 7 when they are due to appear at Folkestone Magistrates' Court.

Mr Williams was discovered wrapped in clingfilm in a flat in Tower Hamlets on last Tuesday, August 20.

The 47-year-old, of Coxhill Road, Shepherdswell, was a chef on P&O's Pride of Kent ferry.
His body was found in an East Street flat above a hairdressers'.

A large-scale police operation was launched with forensics officers swarming the area to gather evidence.

Connor and Bowler were charged by officers from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate.

After his death, colleagues paid tribute to "well-known" Mr Williams.

P&O Ferries spokesman Brian Rees said: "We were obviously desperately sad to hear of Alun's death, and reported it to colleagues shortly after we heard last week.

"He was very well known, working for us a head chef, and our thoughts are with his family and friends."
