Calls have been made for the police and crime commissioner to address a lack of police presence in Sandwich.
The town council voiced its concern over policing in the area at the meeting on Monday night.
Cllr David Wood said: “I am still not sure that we have the police presence that we need. I think this is still really relevant and important and I would like to see the commissioner here to talk it through.”
The council has invited Kent Police and Crime Commissioner Ann Barnes to visit Sandwich and talk about the policing issues.
As there is currently no police station in Sandwich, officers are working out of Dover Police Station – and the council has expressed concern about this on numerous occasions.
Cllr Mark Moorhouse added: “I think they need reminding of the obligation to the council taxpayer.”
He explained that the proportion of money that the taxpayer gives towards the police means residents deserve a good service.
Mrs Barnes is unable to attend a town council meeting on March 19 due to a busy schedule but said: “I am always happy to visit Sandwich and have done so on a number of occasions.”
