Betteshanger Park near Deal appeal for information after bikes stolen during break-in
14:30, 29 December 2017
A picture showing the make and model of bikes stolen from Betteshanger Park during a burglary has been released.
The site in Sandwich Road near Deal was reportedly targeted during the night between Wednesday and Thursday.
Not only was the site’s cycle hire facility vandalised and four bikes stolen, but damage around the Park meant highly anticipated festive activities such as snow tubing, cave crawling and the giant inflatable snowman have not been able to go ahead for two days.
A new statement has been released on the Park’s Facebook page this afternoon.
It says: “As many of you know, Betteshanger Park was broken into during the night between December 27 and 28. Damage was sustained around the Park and a number of bikes were stolen.
“The bikes were CUBE Aim Pro’s. These have hire number stickers on them so should be easily identifiable.
"If anyone has any information on these bikes please could you get in touch with us or the police.”
The entire site was closed yesterday but has reopened today for activities such as walking and cycling.
Anyone with pre-booked tickets for the festive activities has been advised to check their emails. Full refunds will be issued.
A police spokesman said: “We received a report of a burglary at a country park in Sandwich Road, near Deal which occurred over night between Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28 December 2017.
“Enquiries are ongoing."
