Courses will help the unemployed

14:43, 12 January 2011

Courses designed to help young unemployed people get into work are being launched in Dover, Swale and Maidstone this month.

Connexions Kent has been awarded the contract to deliver the Prince’s Trust team programme which is due to start in Dover on January 24 and in Swale and Maidstone on January 31.

This 12-week programme is open to 16 to 26 year olds who are currently unemployed and are looking to develop their confidence, learn new skills and find work.

The organisers are currently seeking recruits to join the programme and they are looking for suitable local community projects which the team members can get involved in.

Connexions chief executive Sean Kearns said: "The team programme has an excellent track record in helping people to move into jobs, training or education.

"The course offers an exciting challenge to those wanting to develop their skills and gain a nationally recognised qualification."

The programme consists of a residential week, community project, CV writing and interview skills, work placements, fund raising and other practical experiences. The course is free and will not affect those currently claiming Jobseekers’ allowance.

Anyone interested in taking part should contact Connexions Kent on 01622 683155 or visit http://www.connexionskentandmedway.co.uk/
