A Dover restaurant has been named as one of the top 100 in the country at the sixth annual British Curry Awards.
The Light of India, in Townwall Street, was the only curry restaurant in Kent to be named in the Best in South East category. It is the sixth year in succession the restaurant has won this award.
Its achievements were honoured at a ceremony held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane, London.
This year, there were a record 67,000 nominations from listeners to LBC Radio and of viewers to Star TV and ITN.
The winners were chosen by journalists, food critics and celebrity chefs, with only 100 restaurants recognised for their excellence in fine cuisine.
The event is known as the Oscars of the UK curry restaurant industry and a host of celebrities including TV and radio presenter Chris Tarrant and chef Gary Rhodes attended the ceremony, hosted by comedian Justin Lee Collins.
Light of India manager Nurul Islam (pictured above with the award) praised his team’s success and also thanked the restaurant’s many customers who nominated them.
